Context of Nahum 1:12
10For even like tangled thorns they will be consumed, or like drunkards who are drunk, or like stubble that is fully dry. 11Out of you has come a schemer of evil against Adonai, a counselor of Belial. Thus said Adonai: Though they are strong and numerous, even so they will be mowed down and pass away. Although I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more. 13I will now break his yoke from you, and tear apart your bonds. 14Adonai has issued a command against you: no more will your name be spread. From the house of your gods I will cut off the idol and metal image. I will prepare your grave— for you have become worthless.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 9-15Verses 9-15 There is a great deal plotted against the Lord by the gates of hell, and against his kingdom in the world; but it will prove in vain. With some sinners God makes quick despatch; and one way or other, he will make an utter end of all his enemies. Though they are quiet, and many very secure, and not in fear, they shall be cut down as grass and corn, when the destroying angel passes through.
