Context of John 12:7
5“Why wasn’t this oil sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?” 6Now he said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief. Since he had the moneybox, he used to steal from what was put in it. Therefore Yeshua said, “Leave her alone! She set it aside for the day of My burial. 8You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have Me.” 9Now a large crowd of Judeans knew He was there and came, not only for Yeshua but also to see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.
