Context of Job 6:28
26Do you intend to correct my words, and treat the words of a despairing man as wind? 27Would you cast lots for an orphan, and barter over your friend? “Now be so kind as to look at me; I will not lie to your face. 29Relent, do not be unjust; reconsider, for my righteousness is in it. 30Is injustice on my tongue? Can my palate not discern evil?”

Look me in the countenance. You can see for yourselves whether I am sincere or false. I am willing that my whole demeanor should be subjected to the utmost scrutiny.” For it is evident unto you if I lie - Margin, as in Hebrew before your face. That is…Read the comment

This he compares to the failing of brooks in summer. Those who rest their expectations on the creature, will find it fail when it should help them; whereas those who make God their confidence, have help in the time of need, He 4:16. Those who make gold their hope, sooner or later will be ashamed of it, and of their confidence in it. It is our wisdom to…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-30Job responds by criticizing his counselors and questioning God (chapters 6 and 7). He explains his intense words by indicating his deep "grief" or "anguish" (6:2–3; 7:11). Job states that Eliphaz has not provided comfort or sympathy as a friend. Instead, Eliphaz chose to argue about out of date religious or theological ideas.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 2828. be content--rather, "be pleased to"--look. Since you have so falsely judged my words, look upon me, that is, upon my countenance: for (it is evident before your faces) if I lie; my countenance will betray me, if I be the hypocrite that you suppose.Read the comment
