Context of Jeremiah 52:20
18The pots, the shovels, the wick trimmers, the basins, the pans, and all the bronze articles for Temple service, they also took away. 19The cups, the fire-pans, the basins, the pots, the menorot, the pans, and the drink offering bowls—whatever was gold or silver—the captain of the guard took away. As for the two pillars, one sea, and twelve bronze bulls that were under the stands that King Solomon had made for the House of Adonai—all these articles had bronze beyond weighing. 21The height of one pillar was 18 cubits and it was twelve cubits in circumference and four fingers in its thickness—it was hollow. 22There was a bronze capital on it—the height of one capital was five cubits, with latticework and pomegranates upon the capital all around, all of bronze. The second pillar was the same, with pomegranates.

Commentaries on Jeremiah 52:20
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 20twelve brasen bulls that were under - Omitted in 2Kings and in Jeremiah 27:19. Probably rightly, for what is said here of their being under the bases is a mistake. The bases were under the ten lavers. The Septuagint makes sense by translating it: “the twelve brasen bulls under the sea.”Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 12-23Verses 12-23 The Chaldean army made woful havoc. But nothing is so particularly related here, as the carrying away of the articles in the temple. The remembrance of their beauty and value shows us the more the evil of sin.Read the comment

- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 2020. bulls ... under the bases--But the bulls were not "under the bases," but under the sea (1Ki 7:25, 27, 38); the ten bases were not under the sea, but under the ten lavers. In English Version, "bases," therefore, must mean the lower parts of the sea under which the bulls were. Rather, translate, "the bulls were in the place of (that is, 'by way of'; so the Hebrew, 1Sa 14:9), bases," or supports to the sea [Buxtorf]. So the Septuagint. 2Ki 25:16 omits…Read the comment
