Context of Genesis 32:23

21Then you are to say, ‘Look, your servant Jacob is also behind us.’” For he thought, “Let me appease him with the offering that goes ahead of me, and afterward see his face, perhaps he’ll lift up my face.” 22So the offering passed over ahead of him, while he spent that night in the camp. Then he got up that night and took his two wives, his two female servants, and his eleven sons, and crossed over the ford of the Jabbok. 24He took them and sent them across the stream, and he sent across whatever he had. 25So Jacob remained all by himself. Then a man wrestled with him until the break of dawn.
