Context of Genesis 24:58
56But he said to them, “Don’t delay me, since Adonai has made my way successful. Send me off so that I can go to my master.” 57So they said, “We’ll call the young woman and let’s ask her opinion.” Then they called Rebekah and said to her, “Will you go with this man?” She said, “I will go.” 59So they sent Rebekah their sister off with her nanny, and Abraham’s servant and his men, 60and they blessed Rebekah and said to her: “Our sister, may you become thousands of ten thousands, and may your seed possess the gate of those who hate him.”

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 58Wilt thou go with this man? - So it appears it was left ultimately to the choice of Rebekah whether she would accept the proposals now made to her, unless we suppose that the question meant, Wilt thou go immediately, or stay with us a month longer? She said, I will go - It fully appears to be the will of God that it should be so, and I consent. This at once determined the whole business.Read the comment

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 54-67Verses 54-67 Abraham's servant, as one that chose his work before his pleasure, was for hastening home. Lingering and loitering no way become a wise and good man who is faithful to his duty. As children ought not to marry without their parents' consent, so parents ought not to marry them without their own. Rebekah consented, not only to go, but to go at once. The goodness of Rebekah's character shows there was nothing wrong in her answer, though it be not…Read the comment

In that culture, young women usually wanted to marry (not marrying brought great shame and hardship). Later stories about Laban help explain why Rebekah may have wanted to leave (compare 31:14–15). Rebekah showed faithful love to the servant, to Abraham’s family, and to Isaac by going to become his wife.Read the comment
