Context of Ezekiel 11:24
22Then the cheruvim lifted up their wings. The wheels were beside them. The glory of the God of Israel was over them from above. 23The glory of Adonai went up from within the city and then stood still on the mountain that is to the east of the city. The Ruach lifted me and brought me in the vision by the Ruach Elohim to Chaldea, to the exiles. Then the vision that I had seen left me. 25So I told the exiles all the things that Adonai had shown me.

Commentaries on Ezekiel 11:24
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 22-25Verses 22-25 Here is the departure of God's presence from the city and temple. It was from the Mount of Olives that the vision went up, typifying the ascension of Christ to heaven from that very mountain. Though the Lord will not forsake his people, yet he may be driven away from any part of his visible church by their sins, and woe will be upon them when He withdraws his presence, glory, and protection.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-25This section describes how the people defiled (made unclean by sin) the temple in Jerusalem (Ezekiel 8). Because of this sin, the Lord left the temple. After he left, the city and the temple were destroyed (9:1–11:13). At first, this sounds like only bad news. But for those already living in exile, it was also good news. The Lord was not limited to the temple in Jerusalem. He would come to be with his people in exile. By coming to dwell with them, the…Read the comment
