Context of Exodus 36:33

31Then he made crossbars from acacia wood, five for the boards on one side of the Tabernacle, 32five for the boards on the other side of the Tabernacle, and five crossbars for the boards of the Tabernacle for the back part, westward. He built the middle crossbar to pass through, in the center of the boards, from one end to the other. 34He overlaid the boards with gold and made golden rings for them, as holders for the crossbars, and overlaid the crossbars with gold. 35Then he made the curtain of blue, purple, scarlet and finely twisted linen, along with the cheruvim, the work of a skillful craftsman.

• Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-38Much of the report about building the Tent of Meeting repeats what 25:1–31:18 said. There is a change from the imperative mood to the indicative, and there are certain changes in the order. This repetition emphasizes that the work was done exactly as God commanded (see 40:16). The people had tried to secure God's presence their own way with the gold calf, which led to disaster. Now, by following God's way, they received blessings (40:34–38).Read the comment
