Context of Daniel 6:22
20At dawn the king got up and hurried to the lions’ den. 21As he reached the den, he cried out to Daniel with a voice of anguish. The king spoke out to Daniel saying: “Daniel, servant of the living God, was your God, whom you serve continually, able to rescue you from the lions?” Daniel spoke to the king: “May the king live forever! 23My God sent His angel to shut the lions’ mouths so that they haven’t harmed me, because I was found innocent before Him. Nor have I committed any crime against you, O king.” 24Then the king was overjoyed, and ordered Daniel taken up out of the den. So Daniel was lifted out of the pit. No injury of any kind was found on him because he had trusted in his God.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 22My God hath sent his angel - It was common among the Hebrews to attribute any remarkable preservation from danger to the intervention of an angel sent from God, and no one can demonstrate that it did not occur as they supposed. There is no more absurdity in supposing that God employs an angelic being to defend his people, or to impart blessings to them, than there is in supposing that he employs one human being to render important aid, and to convey…Read the comment

Daniel was kept perfectly safe, because he believed in his God. Those who boldly and cheerfully trust in God to…Read the comment

So spiritually, God will shut the roaring lion's mouth (1Pe 5:8) for His servants. forasmuch as before him innocency--not absolutely (in Da 9:7, 18 he disclaims such a plea), but relatively to this case.
