Context of 1 Samuel 2:26
24No, my sons! For this is not a good report that I hear Adonai’s people spreading around. 25If a man sins against another, God may pardon him; but if a man sins against Adonai, who will intercede for him?” But they did not listen to the voice of their father, because Adonai desired to put them to death. Meanwhile, the child Samuel kept growing and increasing in favor both with Adonai and also with men. 27Now there came a man of God to Eli and said to him, “Thus says Adonai: Did I not reveal Myself clearly to the house of your father when they were in Egypt belonging to Pharaoh’s palace? 28Also did I not choose them from all the tribes of Israel to be My kohanim, to officiate at My altar, to burn incense and to wear an ephod before Me? Did I not give to the house of your father all the fire offerings of Bnei-Yisrael?

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 26And the child Samuel - The account of our Lord‘s growth Luke 2:52 is very similar; “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” The literal version of the passage before us is, “The child Samuel advanced and grew and was good (or acceptable), both with the Lord, and also with men.”Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 11-26Verses 11-26 Samuel, being devoted to the Lord in a special manner, was from a child employed about the sanctuary in the services he was capable of. Samuel showed what would happen to Jesus through his words, actions, and sometimes through events in his own life that were similar to what would happen in Jesus' life.Read the comment
