2 Samuel 1:2-11
2It came even to pass on the thirdH7992 dayH3117, that, behold, a manH376 cameH935 out of the campH4264 from SaulH7586 with his clothesH899 tornH7167, and earthH127 upon his headH7218: and so it was, when he cameH935 to DavidH1732, that he fellH5307 to the earthH776, and did obeisanceH7812. 3And DavidH1732 saidH559 to him, From where comestH935 thou? And he saidH559 to him, Out of the campH4264 of IsraelH3478 have I escapedH4422. 4And DavidH1732 saidH559 to him, HowH4100 went the matterH1697? I pray thee, tellH5046 me. And he answeredH559, That the peopleH5971 have fledH5127 from the battleH4421, and manyH7235 of the peopleH5971 also have fallenH5307 and are deadH4191; and SaulH7586 and JonathanH3083 his sonH1121 are deadH4191 also.1 5And DavidH1732 saidH559 to the young manH5288 that toldH5046 him, How knowestH3045 thou that SaulH7586 and JonathanH3083 his sonH1121 are deadH4191? 6And the young manH5288 that toldH5046 him saidH559, As I happenedH7136 by chanceH7122 upon mountH2022 GilboaH1533, behold, SaulH7586 leanedH8172 upon his spearH2595; and, lo, the chariotsH7393 and horsemenH1167H6571 followed hardH1692 after him. 7And when he lookedH6437 behindH310 him, he sawH7200 me, and calledH7121 to me. And I answeredH559, Here am I.2 8And he saidH559 to me, Who art thou? And I answeredH559 him, I am an AmalekiteH6003. 9He saidH559 to me again, StandH5975, I pray thee, upon me, and slayH4191 me: for anguishH7661 is comeH270 upon me, because my lifeH5315 is yet whole in me.3 10So I stoodH5975 upon him, and slewH4191 him, because I was sureH3045 that he could not liveH2421 afterH310 that he had fallenH5307: and I tookH3947 the crownH5145 that was upon his headH7218, and the braceletH685 that was on his armH2220, and have broughtH935 them here to my lordH113.
11Then DavidH1732 took holdH2388 on his clothesH899, and toreH7167 them; and likewise all the menH582 that were with him:
