Joshua 10:1-4
Now it came to pass, when Adoni–zedekH139 kingH4428 of JerusalemH3389 had heardH8085 howH3588 JoshuaH3091 had takenH3920 AiH5857, and had utterly destroyedH2763 it; as he had doneH6213 to JerichoH3405 and her kingH4428, so he had doneH6213 to AiH5857 and her kingH4428; and how the inhabitantsH3427 of GibeonH1391 had made peaceH7999 with IsraelH3478, and were amongH7130 them;
That they fearedH3372 greatlyH3966, because GibeonH1391 was a greatH1419 cityH5892, as oneH259 of the royalH4467 citiesH5892, and because it was greaterH1419 than AiH5857, and all the menH582 thereof were mightyH1368.1
Wherefore Adoni–zedekH139 kingH4428 of JerusalemH3389 sentH7971 unto HohamH1944 kingH4428 of HebronH2275, and unto PiramH6502 kingH4428 of JarmuthH3412, and unto JaphiaH3309 kingH4428 of LachishH3923, and unto DebirH1688 kingH4428 of EglonH5700, sayingH559,
Come upH5927 unto me, and helpH5826 me, that we may smiteH5221 GibeonH1391: for it hath made peaceH7999 with JoshuaH3091 and with the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478.
