Context of 2 Samuel 7:26
24For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, Yhwh, art become their God. 25And now, O Yhwh God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said. And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, Yhwh of Armies is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee. 27For thou, O Yhwh of Armies, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee. 28And now, O Lord Yhwh, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

Commentaries on 2 Samuel 7:26
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 18-29Verses 18-29 David's prayer is full of the breathings of devout affection toward God. He had low thoughts of his own merits. Considering what the character and condition of man is, we may be amazed that God should deal with him as he does. The promise of Christ includes all; if the Lord God be ours, what more can we ask, or think of? Ep…Read the comment
