Context of 2 Chronicles 33:4
2But did that which was evil in the sight of Yhwh, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom Yhwh had cast out before the children of Israel. 3For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them. Also he built altars in the house of Yhwh, whereof Yhwh had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever. 5And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of Yhwh. 6And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of Yhwh, to provoke him to anger.

Commentaries on 2 Chronicles 33:4
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-20Manasseh ruled for fifty-five years, from 697 to 642 BC, longer than any other king in Judah. His reign included a period when he ruled with his father, Hezekiah, from 697 to 686 BC. A long reign often indicated blessing, even though Manasseh did evil in the Lord's sight. The Chronicler describes his humiliation, repentance, and the restoration of worship in Judah.Read the comment
