Context of 1 Chronicles 7:6
4And with them, by their generations, according to their fathers’ houses, were thirty-six thousand troops ready for war; for they had many wives and sons. 5Now their brethren among all the families of Issachar were mighty men of valor, listed by their genealogies, eighty-seven thousand in all. The sons of Benjamin were Bela, Becher, and Jediael—three in all. 7The sons of Bela were Ezbon, Uzzi, Uzziel, Jerimoth, and Iri—five in all. They were heads of their fathers’ houses, and they were listed by their genealogies, twenty-two thousand and thirty-four mighty men of valor. 8The sons of Becher were Zemirah, Joash, Eliezer, Elioenai, Omri, Jerimoth, Abijah, Anathoth, and Alemeth. All these are the sons of Becher.

Commentaries on 1 Chronicles 7:6
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 6The sons of Benjamin; Bela, and Becher and Jediael - In Genesis 46:21, ten sons of Benjamin are reckoned; viz., Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Eri, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard. In Numbers 26:38, etc., five sons only of Benjamin are mentioned, Bela, Ashbel, Ahiram, Shupham, and Hupham: and Ard and Naaman are there said to be the sons of Bela; consequently grandsons of Benjamin. In the beginning of the following chapter, five sons of Benjamin are…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 6Three - In Genesis, ten “sons” of Benjamin are mentioned; in Numbers, five (marginal references). Neither list, however, contains Jediael who was perhaps a later chieftain. If so, “son” as applied to him means only “descendant.” It is conjectured that Becher has disappeared from the lists in Numbers 26:35. He retains, however, his place here, because, by right of blood, he really belonged to Benjamin.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-40This chapter provides the genealogies of the remaining tribes of Israel. The sections on the tribes of Issachar, Benjamin, and Asher may come from a military census. These lists are almost the same length, use military terms, record the father's houses, and do not mention settlements. The tribes of Zebulun and Dan are completely omitted, and Naphtali has only a short record.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 66. The sons of Benjamin--Ten are named in Ge 46:21, but only five later (1Ch 8:1; Nu 26:38). Perhaps five of them were distinguished as chiefs of illustrious families, but two having fallen in the bloody wars waged against Benjamin (Jud 20:46), there remained only three branches of this tribe, and these only are enumerated.
