Context of Job 8:10
8“For inquire now of the former generation, and pay attention to the findings of their ancestors; 9For we were born yesterday and do not have knowledge, since our days on earth are but a shadow. Will they not instruct you and speak to you, and bring forth words from their understanding? 11Can the papyrus plant grow tall where there is no marsh? Can reeds flourish without water? 12While they are still beginning to flower and not ripe for cutting, they can wither away faster than any grass!

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 10Shall not they teach thee - The results of human conduct, and the great principles on which God governs the world. And utter words out of their heart - Dr. Good renders this, “And well forth the sayings of their wisdom,” And supposes it means that the words of wisdom would proceed from them as water bubbles from a fountain. But this, I think, is a mere conceit. The true sense is, that they would not speak that merely which comes from the mouth, or that…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 8-19Verses 8-19 Bildad discourses well of hypocrites and evil-doers, and the fatal end of all their hopes and joys. He proves this truth of the destruction of the hopes and joys of hypocrites, by an appeal to former times. Bildad refers to the testimony of the ancients. Those teach best that utter words out of their heart, that speak from an experience of spiritual and divine things. They will teach thee." utter words--more than mere speaking; "put forth well-considered words." out of their heart--from observation and reflection; not merely, from their mouth: such, as Bildad insinuates, were Job's words.
