Context of Amos 1:15
13This is what the Lord says: “Because the Ammonites have committed three crimes – make that four! – I will not revoke my decree of judgment. They ripped open Gilead’s pregnant women so they could expand their territory. 14So I will set fire to Rabbah’s city wall; fire will consume her fortresses. War cries will be heard on the day of battle; a strong gale will blow on the day of the windstorm. Ammon’s king will be deported; he and his officials will be carried off together.” The Lord has spoken!

Hence, as a first step in the subdual, the reigning head and those who shared his counsels were removed. Ammon then, savage as it was in act, was no ill-organized horde. On the contrary, barren and waste as all that country now is, it must once…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 15Their king: The Hebrew term malkam might refer to the Ammonite god Molech. In ancient times, people believed that when a nation was conquered, its god or gods went into exile with them (see Amos 5:26–27; 1 Samuel 5:1–2; Isaiah 46:1).Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 1515. their king ... princes--or else, "their Molech (the idol of Ammon) and his priests" [Grotius and Septuagint]. Is 43:28 so uses "princes" for "priests." So Am 5:26, "your Molech"; and Jr 49:3, Margin. English Version, however, is perhaps preferable both here and in Jr 49:3; see on Jr 49:3.Read the comment
