Context of Psalms 109:15
13Let his descendants be cut off and their family name be wiped out by the next generation. 14Let the Lord remember the guilt of his ancestors and not wipe out his mother’s sin. Let their guilt and sin always remain on record in front of the Lord. Let the Lord remove every memory of him from the earth, 16because he did not remember to be kind. “He drove oppressed, needy, and brokenhearted people to their graves. 17He loved to put curses ⌞on others⌟, so he, too, was cursed. He did not like to bless ⌞others⌟, so he never received a blessing.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 15Let them be before the Lord continually - Let their sins never pass from the mind of God. Let him never so forget them as not to inflict punishment for them. That he may cut off the memory of them from the earth - That they may be wholly forgotten among people. Let their very name perish; and let the offender in this case be in the condition of those who have no ancestors to whom they can refer with pride and pleasure. The idea here is drawn from the…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 6-20Verses 6-20 The Lord Jesus may speak here as a Judge, denouncing sentence on some of his enemies, to warn others. When men reject the salvation of Christ, even their prayers are numbered among their sins. See what hurries some to shameful deaths, and brings the families and estates of others to ruin; makes them and theirs despicable and hateful, and brings poverty, shame, and misery upon their posterity: it is sin, that mischievous, destructive thing. Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered, &c.--Added to the terrible overthrow following his own sin, let there be the imputation of his parents' guilt, that it may now come before God, for His meting out its full consequences, in cutting off the memory of them (that is, the parents) from the earth (Psa 34:16).Read the comment
