Context of Psalms 106:36
34They did not destroy the people as the Lord had told them. 35Instead, they intermarried with other nations. They learned to do what other nations did, and they worshiped their idols, which became a trap for them. 37They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons. 38They shed innocent blood, the blood of their own sons and daughters whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan. The land became polluted with blood.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 34-48Verses 34-48 The conduct of the Israelites in Canaan, and God's dealings with them, show that the way of sin is down-hill; omissions make way for commissions: when they neglected to destroy the heathen, they learned their works.
