Context of Leviticus 14:12
10“On the eighth day he must take two male lambs that have no defects and a one-year-old female lamb that has no defects. He must also take eight cups of flour mixed with olive oil for a grain offering along with a quart of olive oil. 11The priest who will declare him clean must bring the person and his offerings into the Lord’s presence at the entrance to the tent of meeting. The priest will take one of the male lambs and the quart of olive oil and present them to the Lord as a guilt offering. 13He will slaughter the lamb in the holy place where he slaughters the offering for sin and the burnt offering. He will do this because the guilt offering, like the offering for sin, belongs to the priest. It is very holy. 14Then the priest will take some of the blood from the guilt offering and put it on the right ear lobe, on the right thumb, and on the big toe of the right foot of the one to be cleansed.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 12This trespass-offering, with its blood and the oil, must be regarded as the main feature in the ceremony: no alteration being permitted even in the case of the poor Leviticus 14:21-23. There appears to be no other case in which an entire victim was waved (see Leviticus 7:30) before Yahweh. The Levites are spoken of as “a wave offering,” Numbers 8:11-15 (see the margin). The man in this case, represented by his trespass-offering, was dedicated as a…Read the comment
