Context of Ezra 6:3
1Then King Darius gave the order to search the library where the archives were stored in Babylon. 2A scroll was found in the palace of Ecbatana, which is in the province of Media. This was written on it: MEMORANDUM Date: Cyrus’ first year as king From: King Cyrus Subject: God’s temple in Jerusalem The temple should be rebuilt as a place to offer sacrifices. Its foundation should be laid. It should be 90 feet high and 90 feet wide 4with three rows of large stones and a row of wood. The king’s palace will pay for it. 5In addition, Cyrus took out of a temple in Babylon the gold and silver utensils that belonged to God’s temple. (Nebuchadnezzar had taken them out of God’s temple in Jerusalem and brought them into a temple in Babylon.) They should be returned to their proper place in the temple in Jerusalem. You should put each one in God’s temple.

Commentaries on Ezra 6:3
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 3The height thereof threescore cubits - This was much larger than the temple of Solomon. This was sixty cubits high, and sixty cubits broad; whereas Solomon's was only twenty cubits broad, and thirty cubits high.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 3It is difficult to reconcile the dimentions here with expressions in Zechariah Zechariah 4:10, Haggai Haggai 2:3, and even Ezra Ezra 3:12, which imply that the second temple was smaller than the first (compare 1 Kings 6:2). Perhaps the dimensions here are those which Cyrus required the Jews not to exceed.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 3This decree is recorded in Ezra 1:2–4. The temple will be ninety feet high and ninety feet wide. The changes suggested in the New Living Translation note would align these measurements with Solomon’s temple (1 Kings 6:2, 17, 20). However, the larger measurements here might show the maximum size the Persians would finance.Read the comment
