Context of Song of Songs 2:13
11Look! The winter time has finished. The heavy rains have stopped. 12Flowers are appearing everywhere. It is now the season to sing happy songs. We can hear the voices of doves around us. New fruit is growing on the fig trees. There are flowers on the vines, and their sweet smell is in the air. I love you, my beautiful friend. Please get up now and come with me!’ 14My dear friend, you are like a dove that is hiding among the rocks. You hide from me in the mountains. Show your face to me because it is lovely. Let me hear your voice because it has a sweet sound. 15Catch the foxes for us! Our vines now have flowers and they will soon give us fruit. So catch the little foxes before they destroy our vineyards.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 13The fig tree putteth forth her green figs - The fig tree in Judea bears double crops; the first of which is ripe in spring. But the tree, as I have elsewhere observed, bears figs all the year through, in the climes congenial to it. That is, the fig tree has always ripe or unripe fruit on it. I never saw a healthy tree naked. But in the beginning of spring they grow fast, and become turgid. The vines with the tender grape - The versions understand this of…Read the comment

Even when Christ seems to forsake, it is but for a moment; he will soon return with everlasting loving-kindness. The saints of old saw him, appearing…Read the comment
