Context of Psalms 37:26
24Even if that person trips, he will not fall. The Lord will hold his hand. 25I was young once and now I am old. But in all my life, I have never seen any good man that God has left alone. I have not seen his children so hungry that they ask people for food. Good people are always kind. They lend things to other people. Their children also bring God's blessing. 27Turn away from evil things! Do what is right! Then you will live safely in the land for ever. 28The Lord loves justice. He will never leave those who serve him. He will take care of them for ever, but he will remove the children of wicked people.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 26He is ever merciful and lendeth - חונן היום כל kol haiyom chonen, "all the day he is compassionate." He is confirmed in the habit of godliness: he feels for the distresses of men, and is ready to divide and distribute to all that are in necessity. And his seed is blessed - The preceding words were not spoken casually; his seed, his posterity, is blessed; therefore they are not abandoned to beg their bread.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 26He is ever merciful - Margin, as in Hebrew, “all the day.” That is, it is his character; he is constantly in the habit of showing kindness. He does not do it at intervals, or only occasionally, but it is this that marks the character of the man. He is known by this. The word “merciful” here means kind, compassionate, benignant - and particularly in this respect, that he is willing to “lend” to others when he has the means. And lendeth - The wicked man…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 21-33Verses 21-33 The Lord our God requires that we do justly, and render to all their due. It is a great sin for those that are able, to deny the payment of just debts; it is a great misery not to be able to pay them. He that is truly merciful, will be ever merciful. We must leave our sins; learn to do well, and cleave to it. This is true religion. The blessing of God is the spring, sweetness, and security of all earthly enjoyments. And if we are sure of…Read the comment
