Context of Psalms 32:6
4In the day and in the night, you punished me very much. It seemed as if the hot sun was taking away my strength. Selah. 5Then I told you about my sins. I did not try to hide the bad things that I had done. I said, ‘I will tell the Lord about the things that I have done against him.’ When I did that, you forgave my sins. Selah. Because of this, all your own people should pray to you. They should pray while they still have the chance. Then, when danger comes to them like a river of deep water, they will still be safe. 7Yes, Lord, you are a place where I can hide. You will keep me safe from trouble. I will hear happy songs all around me, because you save your people from danger. Selah. 8I will teach you the right way to live. I will be your guide and I will take care of you.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 6For this shall every one that is godly - Because thou art merciful; because thou hast shown mercy to all who have truly turned to thee, and believed in thee; every one who fears thee, and hears of this, shall pray unto thee in an acceptable time, when thou mayest be found; in the time of finding. When the heart is softened and the conscience alarmed, that is a time of finding. God is ever ready; men are not so. Who can pray with a hard heart and a dark…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 6For this - With reference to this state of mind, or to this happy result; or, encouraged by my example and my success. The idea seems to be that others would find, and might find, encouragement from what had occurred to him. In other words, his case had furnished an illustration of the way in which sinners are pardoned, and a proof of the mercy of God, which would be instructive and encouraging to others in similar circumstances. - Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 3-7Verses 3-7 It is very difficult to bring sinful man humbly to accept free mercy, with a full confession of his sins and self-condemnation. But the true and only way to peace of conscience, is, to confess our sins, that they may be forgiven; to declare them that we may be justified. Although repentance and confession do not merit the pardon of transgression, they are needful to the real enjoyment of forgiving mercy. And what tongue can tell the happiness…Read the comment
