Context of Psalms 119:81
79Let the people who respect you come back to me. Then they will learn to obey your rules. 80Let me obey your commands completely. Then I will not be ashamed. As I wait for you to save me, I feel tired and weak. I trust in your word. 82As I wait for you to do what you have promised, my eyes are too tired to stay open. I ask, ‘When will you come to help me?’ 83I am like an old wineskin that has become useless. But I have not forgotten your rules.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 81My soul fainteth for thy salvation - The new division of the psalm, which begins here, is indicated by the Hebrew letter Kaph (כ k ), equivalent to “k” or “c” (hard). Any strong emotion may thus prostrate us; and…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 81-88Verses 81-88 The psalmist sought deliverance from his sins, his foes, and his fears. He was become like a leathern bottle, which, if hung up in the smoke, is dried and shrivelled up. We must ever be mindful of God's statutes. The days of the believer's mourning shall be ended; they are but for a…Read the comment
