Context of Ezekiel 41:4
2The entrance itself was 5 metres wide. The walls on each side were 2½ metres wide. The big hall was 20 metres long and 10 metres wide. 3Then he went into the inside room. He measured the walls at the entrance. They were 1 metre thick. The entrance was 3 metres wide. The walls on each side were 3½ metres wide. He measured the inside room. It was 10 metres long and 10 metres wide. It was at the back of the big hall. The man said to me, ‘This is the Most Holy Place.’ 5Then the man measured the wall of the temple. It was 3 metres thick. There were small rooms along the outside of the wall, all around the temple. Each room was 2 metres wide. 6The side rooms were on three levels. Each level had 30 rooms. The temple's wall at each level was less thick than the wall below. So the wall itself held up each level of rooms. They did not have to fix the side rooms into the temple's wall.

Commentaries on Ezekiel 41:4
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 4The length thereof, twenty cubits - This is the measurement of the sanctuary, or holy of holies. See G in the plan. This also was the exact measurement of Solomon's temple, see 1 Kings 6:20. This, and the other resemblances here, sufficiently prove that Ezekiel's temple and that of Solomon were on the same plan; and that the latter temple was intended to be an exact resemblance of the former.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 4The Temple - here is the holy place as distinguished from the most holy, “the Oracle,” which is “before” the holy place, inwards.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 3-4The inner room was the Most Holy Place. It was the only square room in the temple. This room was the most sacred space in the building. A person reached it by passing through three openings. Each opening was narrower than the one before it. Access became more limited as a person moved closer to God. The entrance to the entry room was about 7.5 meters wide (24.5 feet; Ezekiel 40:48). The doorway into the sanctuary was about 5.3 meters wide (17.5 feet…Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 44. thereof--of the holy of holies. before the temple--that is, before, or in front of the most holy place (so "temple" is used in 1Ki 6:3). The angel went in and measured it, while Ezekiel stood in front, in the only part of the temple accessible to him. The dimensions of the two apartments are the same as in Solomon's temple, since being fixed originally by God, they are regarded as finally determined.Read the comment
