Context of Ezekiel 32:13
11This is what the Almighty Lord says: The king of Babylon will attack you with his army. 12His brave soldiers will fight against you. I will cause them to destroy your army. They are the most cruel of all the nations. They will stop Egypt's people being proud of their power. They will destroy all Egypt's armies. I will destroy all Egypt's cows that live beside its great rivers. So no people or animals will walk in the water any more. They will not cause the water to become dirty. 14Then I will cause the water in the rivers to be clean again. The water will move freely like olive oil. That is what the Almighty Lord says. 15I will cause Egypt to become an empty place. I will remove everything that grows on the land. I will kill all the people who live there. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-32This section contains a series of messages of judgment against nearby nations. There are six shorter messages against Judah's immediate neighbors, arranged in a clockwise order, followed by a final message against Egypt (Ezekiel 30–32). Through experiencing God's judgment, the nations would recognize God's control over everything. The nations might be used to carry out God's judgment on his people, but they would not avoid judgment themselves. One of the…Read the comment
