Context of Exodus 15:10
8You blew on the water and it became like a wall. The deep waters stood up in a big heap. 9The enemy said, “We will go after them. We will catch them. We will destroy them with our swords. We will do whatever we want to them. We will take all their valuable things for ourselves.” But Lord, you blew on the waters so that the sea covered your enemies. They went down like heavy metal in the great waters. 11Lord, there is nobody like you among all the gods! There is nobody like you anywhere! You are great and holy. Everyone should respect you and praise you. You do great miracles. There is nobody like you! 12You lifted up your right hand. A big hole opened in the ground and our enemies fell into it.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 1-18Verses 1-18 With the deliverance of Israel is associated the development of the national poetry, which finds its first and perfect expression in this magnificent hymn. It was sung by Moses and the people, an expression which evidently points to him as the author. That it was written at the time is an assertion expressly made in the text, and it is supported by the strongest internal evidence. In every age this song gave the tone to the poetry of Israel…Read the comment

- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 1-271. Then sang Moses and the children of Israel--The scene of this thanksgiving song is supposed to have been at the landing place on the eastern shore of the Red Sea, at Ayoun Musa, "the fountains of Moses." They are situated somewhat farther northward along the shore than the opposite point from which the Israelites set out. But the line of the people would be extended during the passage, and one extremity of it would reach as far north as these…Read the comment
