Context of Deuteronomy 29:10
8We took their land and we gave it to the tribes of Reuben, Gad and half the tribe of Manasseh. That would be their new home. 9So be careful to obey the words of this covenant. If you are faithful, everything that you do will go well. The Lord your God sees all of you today as you stand here. He sees your leaders, your important men, your officers and all Israelite men. 11He sees your children and your wives. He sees the foreign people who live among you and who cut wood and carry water for you. 12You are standing here to agree to the covenant that the Lord your God is making with you today. You must promise to obey it.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 10Ye stand - all of you before the Lord - They were about to enter into a covenant with God; and as a covenant implies two parties contracting, God is represented as being present, and they and all their families, old and young, come before him.Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 10-21Verses 10-21 The national covenant made with Israel, not only typified the covenant of grace made with true believers, but also represented the outward dispensation of the gospel. Those who have been enabled to consent to the Lord's new covenant of mercy and grace in Jesus Christ, and to give up themselves to be his people, should embrace every opportunity of renewing their open profession of relation to him, and their obligation to him, as the God of…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 2-29As Moses prepared to die, he spoke a farewell message to Israel. In this message, he briefly reviewed their history since they left Egypt. He urged the nation to promise loyalty to the Lord. This part of Deuteronomy shows that grace (God’s undeserved favor) is not only a New Testament teaching. Grace is the foundation of the Lord’s relationship with Israel.Read the comment
