Context of 1 Kings 1:10
8But these people did not join Adonijah's group: Zadok the priest, Jehoiada's son Benaiah, Nathan the prophet, Shimei and Rei. David's own special soldiers did not join Adonijah either. 9Then Adonijah went to the Stone of Zoheleth that was near En Rogel. He killed sheep, cows and fat calves as sacrifices there. He asked these people to join him: all his brothers, who were King David's sons, all the men of Judah who were the king's officers. But he did not ask these people to come: Nathan the prophet, Benaiah, David's own special soldiers, his brother Solomon. 11Nathan said to Bathsheba, Solomon's mother, ‘Have you heard about the things that Haggith's son Adonijah is doing? He has become king, but our master, David, does not know about it. 12Please accept my advice so that you can save your life and the life of Solomon, your son.

Commentaries on 1 Kings 1:10
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 5-10Verses 5-10 Indulgent parents are often chastised with disobedient children, who are anxious to possess their estates. No worldly wisdom, nor experience, nor sacredness of character, can insure the continuance in any former course of those who remain under the power of self-love. But we may well wonder by what arts Joab and Abiathar could be drawn aside.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-53The book of 1 Kings begins with the Lord's promise to David (see 2 Samuel 7:11–16). Solomon was the rightful and God-chosen heir to what God gave his father David. The problems during Solomon's rise to power suggested there would be more troubles later in his reign and between Israel and Judah in the future(1 Kings 1:1–2:46; 11:12–43).Read the comment

It is a very deep well, measuring one hundred twenty-five feet in depth; the water is sweet, but not very cold, and it is at times quite full to overflowing.
