Context of Psalms 50:5
3Our God will come, and will not keep silence: fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. 4He will call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people: Gather unto me my godly ones, those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice! 6And the heavens shall declare his righteousness; for God executeth judgment himself. Selah. 7Hear, my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify unto thee: I am God, thy God.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 5Gather my saints together unto me - This is an address to the messengers employed for assembling those who are to be judged. Similar language is used by the Saviour Matthew 24:31: “And he (the Son of Man) shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” The idea is, that God will bring them, or assemble them together. All this is language derived…Read the comment

However, those who have been unfaithful will not receive blessings when the heavens and earth testify against them (see Deuteronomy 30:19; 31:28; 32:1; Isaiah 1:2). The Lord comes to restore order to the world (see Psalms 5:8; 22:31; 33:5; 40:9; 50:6; 71:16; 97:6).Read the comment
