1And it came to pass on the eighth day, [that] Moses called Aaron and his sons, and the elders of Israel, 2and said to Aaron, Take thee a young calf for a sin-offering, and a ram for a burnt-offering, without blemish, and present [them] before Jehovah; and to the children of Israel shalt thou speak, saying, Take a buck of the goats for a sin-offering, and a calf and a lamb, yearlings, without blemish, for a burnt-offering; 4and a bullock and a ram for a peace-offering, to sacrifice before Jehovah; and an oblation mingled with oil; for to-day Jehovah will appear to you. 5And they brought what Moses commanded before the tent of meeting; and all the assembly approached and stood before Jehovah.

Commentaries on Leviticus 9:3
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 3Take ye a kid - In Leviticus 4:14; a young bullock is commanded to be offered for the sin of the people; but here the offering is a kid, which was the sacrifice appointed for the sin of the ruler, Leviticus 4:22, Leviticus 4:23, and hence some think that the reading of the Samaritan and the Septuagint is to be preferred. The first of their official acts was the sacrifice of another sin offering to atone for the defects of the inauguration services; and yet that sacrifice did not consist of a bullock--the sacrifice…Read the comment
