Context of Leviticus 25:21
19And the land shall yield its fruit, and ye shall eat and be satisfied, and dwell therein securely. 20And if ye say, What shall we eat in the seventh year? behold, we may not sow, nor gather in our produce; then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, that it may bring forth produce for three years; 22and ye shall sow in the eighth year, and ye shall eat of the old fruit until the ninth year; until her produce come in, ye shall eat the old. 23And the land shall not be sold for ever; for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 8-22Verses 8-22 The word "jubilee" signifies a peculiarly animated sound of the silver trumpets. It was provided that the lands should not be sold away from their families. They could only be disposed of, as it were, by leases till the year of jubilee, and then returned to the owner or his…Read the comment

After seven Sabbath years, or 49 years, came a special year called the Year of Jubilee. Like so many holy days, these times were meant for reflecting on Israel's shared identity and their relationship with God. Every Israelite, both free and servant, had a place in God’s kingdom. So, those bound in servitude were set free during the Year of Jubilee…Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 21-2221-22. The sixth year was to yield a miraculous supply for three continuous years. And the remark is applicable to the year of Jubilee as well as the sabbatic year…Read the comment
