Context of Leviticus 2:3
1And when any one will present an oblation to Jehovah, his offering shall be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil on it, and put frankincense thereon. 2And he shall bring it to Aaron's sons, the priests; and he shall take thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof; and the priest shall burn the memorial thereof on the altar, an offering by fire to Jehovah of a sweet odour. And the remainder of the oblation shall be Aaron's and his sons': [it is] most holy of Jehovah's offerings by fire. 4And if thou present an offering of an oblation baken in the oven, it shall be unleavened cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, or unleavened wafers anointed with oil. 5And if thine offering be an oblation [baken] on the pan, it shall be fine flour unleavened, mingled with oil.

Commentaries on Leviticus 2:3
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 3A thing most holy - literally, a holy of holies. All offerings were holy, including the portions of the peace-offerings which were eaten by the laity; but that was “most holy” of which every part was devoted either to the altar, or to the use of the priests. Such were the minchaahs, the showbread, the incense, and the flesh of the sin-offerings and trespass-offerings. Compare the similar distinction between places Exodus 26:33. The most holy food was…Read the comment

Exceptions included: the whole burnt offering, where the priest only received the hide (see 7:8), offerings given by the priest for himself (4:3–12; 6:19–23), or offerings made for the entire community (4:13–21). In these cases, they completely burned the offering. The grain offering provided the priests with bread for their diet…Read the comment
