Context of Ezekiel 35:13
11therefore, [as] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will even do according to thine anger and according to thine envy, as thou hast done out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I shall judge thee. 12And thou shalt know that I Jehovah have heard all thy reproaches, which thou hast uttered against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to devour. And ye have magnified yourselves against me with your mouth, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard [them]. 14Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee a desolation. 15As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolated, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be a desolation, O mount Seir, and all Edom, the whole of it: and they shall know that I [am] Jehovah.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 10-15Verses 10-15 When we see the vanity of the world in the disappointments, losses, and crosses, which others meet with, instead of showing ourselves greedy of worldly things, we should sit more loose to them. In the destruction of the enemies of the church, God designs his own glory; and we may be sure that he will not come short of his…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 13-15The Edomites wrongly thought that God's judgment on his people and his leaving the temple meant his covenant with Israel had ended. His choice of Israel and his gift of the land to them would not be taken back.Read the comment
