Context of 1 Chronicles 16:33
31Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; And let them say among the nations, Jehovah reigneth! 32Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; Let the field exult, and all that is therein. Then shall the trees of the forest sing out at the presence of Jehovah, For he cometh to judge the earth. 34Give thanks unto Jehovah, for he is good; For his loving-kindness [endureth] for ever. 35And say, Save us, O God of our salvation, And gather us, and deliver us from the nations, To give thanks unto thy holy name, To triumph in thy praise.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 4-42Verses 4-42 This passage is interposed by the writer of Chronicles between two sentences of the parallel passage in Samuel. It contains a detailed account of the service which David instituted at this time, a service out of which grew the more elaborate service of the temple. The language of much of the passage is remarkably archaic, and there can be no reasonable doubt that it is in the main an extract from a record of the time of David. 1 Chronicles…Read the comment
