Context of Joshua 19:10
8and all the settlements surrounding these cities as far as Baalath-beer (Ramah in the south). This was the inheritance of the tribe of Simeon’s descendants by their clans. 9The inheritance of Simeon’s descendants was within the territory of Judah’s descendants, because the share for Judah’s descendants was too large. So Simeon’s descendants received an inheritance within Judah’s portion. The third lot came up for Zebulun’s descendants by their clans. The territory of their inheritance stretched as far as Sarid; 11their border went up westward to Maralah, reached Dabbesheth, and met the brook east of Jokneam. 12From Sarid, it turned due east along the border of Chisloth-tabor, went to Daberath, and went up to Japhia.

Commentaries on Joshua 19:10
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 10Sarid, not yet identified, was evidently a leading topographical point on the south frontier of Zebulun. The boundary passed westward until it touched the Kishon, near “Tell Kaimon” (Joshua 12:22 note), and thence, turned northward, leaving Carmel, which belonged to Asher, on its west. The territory of Zebulun accordingly would not anywhere reach to the Mediterranean, though its eastern side abutted on the sea of Galilee, and gave the tribe those…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 10-16Verses 10-16 In the division to each tribe of Israel, the prophetic blessings of Jacob were fulfilled. They chose for themselves, or it was divided to them by lot, in the manner and places that he foresaw. So sure a rule to go by is the word of prophecy: we see by it what to believe, and it proves beyond all dispute the things that are of God.Read the comment

- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 10-1610-14. the third lot came up for the children of Zebulun--The boundaries of the possession assigned to them extended from the Lake of Chinnereth (Sea of Galilee) on the east, to the Mediterranean on the west. Although they do not seem at first to have touched on the western shore--a part of Manasseh running north into Asher (Jos 17:10)--they afterwards did, according to the prediction of Moses (De 33:19). The extent from north to south cannot be very…Read the comment
