Context of Job 23:15
13But he is unchangeable; who can oppose him? He does what he desires. 14He will certainly accomplish what he has decreed for me, and he has many more things like these in mind. Therefore I am terrified in his presence; when I consider this, I am afraid of him. 16God has made my heart faint; the Almighty has terrified me. 17Yet I am not destroyed by the darkness, by the thick darkness that covers my face.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 15Therefore am I troubled at his presence - The doctrine of divine purposes and decrees “is fitted to impress the mind with awe.” So vast are the plans of God; so uncertain to us is it what will be developed next; so impossible is it to resist God when he comes forth to execute his plans, that they fill the mind with reverence and fear. - Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 13-17Verses 13-17 As Job does not once question but that his trials are from the hand of God, and that there is no such thing as chance, how does he account for them? But though the…Read the comment
