Context of Jeremiah 39:11
9Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guards, deported the rest of the people to Babylon — those who had remained in the city and those deserters who had defected to him along with the rest of the people who remained. 10However, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guards, left in the land of Judah some of the poor people who owned nothing, and he gave them vineyards and fields at that time. Speaking through Nebuzaradan, captain of the guards, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon gave orders concerning Jeremiah: 12“Take him and look after him. - Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 11-14Verses 11-14 The servants of God alone are prepared for all events; and they are delivered and comforted, while the wicked suffer. They often meet with more kindness from the profane, than from hypocritical professors of godliness. The Lord will raise them up friends, do them good, and perform all his promises.Read the comment

- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 1111. Jeremiah's prophecies were known to Nebuchadnezzar through deserters (Jr 39:9; Jr 38:19), also through the Jews carried to Babylon with Jeconiah (compare Jr 40:2). Hence the king's kindness to him.Read the comment
