Jeremiah 21:7
7Afterward — this is the Lord’s declaration — King Zedekiah of Judah, his officers, and the people — those in this city who survive the plague, the sword, and the famine — I will hand over to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, to their enemies, yes, to those who intend to take their lives. He will put them to the sword; he won’t spare them or show pity or compassion.’

Context of Jeremiah 21:7
5I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and a strong arm, with anger, fury, and intense wrath. 6I will strike the residents of this city, both people and animals. They will die in a severe plague. Afterward — this is the Lord’s declaration — King Zedekiah of Judah, his officers, and the people — those in this city who survive the plague, the sword, and the famine — I will hand over to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, to their enemies, yes, to those who intend to take their lives. He will put them to the sword; he won’t spare them or show pity or compassion.’ 8“But tell this people, ‘This is what the Lord says: Look, I am setting before you the way of life and the way of death. 9Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, famine, and plague, but whoever goes out and surrenders to the Chaldeans who are besieging you will live and will retain his life like the spoils of war.

Commentaries on Jeremiah 21:7
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 7Nebuchadrezzar - This name is spelt as above in twenty-six places of this book; and in ten places it is spelt Nebuchadnezzar, which is the common orthography. The difference is only a ר resh for a נ nun ; but the MSS. are various on this point. It is the same person who is intended by both names; and here all the Versions, except the Arabic, which omits the name, have it in the usual form.Read the comment

Zedekiah himself, though not put to a violent death, died of grief. Compare as to the accurate fulfilment, Jr 34:4; Eze 12:13; 2Ki 25:6, 7.Read the comment
