Context of Exodus 29:33
31“You are to take the ram of ordination and boil its flesh in a holy place. 32Aaron and his sons are to eat the meat of the ram and the bread that is in the basket at the entrance to the tent of meeting. They must eat those things by which atonement was made at the time of their ordination and consecration. An unauthorized person must not eat them, for these things are holy. 34If any of the meat of ordination or any of the bread is left until morning, burn what is left over. It must not be eaten because it is holy. 35“This is what you are to do for Aaron and his sons based on all I have commanded you. Take seven days to ordain them.

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 33atonement: Traditionally, atonement has often been explained as a “covering over.” This means that sin is covered so it no longer stands between God and people. Some modern scholars connect the word to another Semitic root (a related word family from ancient Middle Eastern languages). That root does not appear elsewhere in the Hebrew Bible. Based on that idea, they understand the word to mean “blot out,” “erase,” or “cleanse.” In both views, the result is…Read the comment

In short, they were taught to know that the service was for them as well as for the people; and every time they engaged in a new…Read the comment
