Context of Psalms 21:7
5Great is his glory in Your salvation; You bestow on him splendor and majesty. 6For You grant him blessings forever; You cheer him with joy in Your presence. For the king trusts in the LORD; through the loving devotion of the Most High, he will not be shaken. 8Your hand will apprehend all Your enemies; Your right hand will seize those who hate You. 9You will place them in a fiery furnace at the time of Your appearing. In His wrath the LORD will engulf them, and the fire will consume them.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 7The king trusteth in the Lord - It was not by my skill or valor that I have gained this victory, but by faith in the strong protecting, and conquering arm of Jehovah. He shall not be moved - Perhaps this may be best understood of him who was David's prototype. His throne, kingdom, and government, shall remain for ever.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 7For the king - David, the author of the psalm. Trusteth in the Lord - All these blessings have resulted from his confiding in God, and looking to him for his favor and protection. And through the mercy of the Most High - The favor of Him who is exalted above all; the most exalted Being in the universe. The word “mercy” here is equivalent to “favor.” He had already experienced God‘s favor; he looked for a continuance of it; and through that favor he was…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 7-13Verses 7-13 The psalmist teaches to look forward with faith, and hope, and prayer upon what God would further do. The success with which God blessed David, was a type of the total overthrow of all Christ's enemies. Those who might have had Christ to rule and save them, but rejected him and fought against him, shall find the remembrance of it a worm that dies not. God makes sinners willing by his grace, receives them to his favour, and delivers them from…Read the comment
