Context of Esther 4:13
11“All the royal officials and the people of the king’s provinces know that one law applies to every man or woman who approaches the king in the inner court without being summoned—that he be put to death. Only if the king extends the gold scepter may that person live. And who knows if perhaps you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” 15Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai:

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 13Think not - that thou shalt escape - This confirms the suspicion that Haman knew something of the relationship between Mordecai and Esther; and therefore he gives her to understand that, although in the king's palace, she should no more escape than the Jews.Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 5-17Verses 5-17 We are prone to shrink from services that are attended with peril or loss. But when the cause of Christ and his people demand it, we must take up our cross, and follow him. It is not thus in the court of the King of kings: to the footstool of his throne of grace we may always come boldly, and…Read the comment
