Context of Daniel 2:17
15“Why is the decree from the king so harsh?” he asked. Then Arioch explained the situation to Daniel. 16So Daniel went in and asked the king to give him some time, so that he could give him the interpretation. Then Daniel returned to his house and explained the matter to his friends Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, 18urging them to plead for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that Daniel and his friends would not be killed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. 19During the night, the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision, and he blessed the God of heaven

And made the thing known to Hananiah - Made the whole matter known - the perplexity respecting the dream; the failure of the Chaldeans to interpret it; the…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 14-23Verses 14-23 Daniel humbly prayed that God would discover to him the king's dream, and the meaning of it. They were particular in prayer. And whatever we pray for, we can expect nothing but as the gift of God's mercies. God gives us leave in prayer to tell our wants and burdens…Read the comment
