Context of Ezekiel 28:13
11Moreover the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 12Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou wast in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, the topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was in thee; in the day that thou wast created they were prepared. 14Thou wast the anointed cherub that covereth: and I set thee, so that thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 15Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till unrighteousness was found in thee.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 13Thou hast been in Eden - This also is a strong irony. Thou art like Adam, when in his innocence and excellence he was in the garden of Eden! Every precious stone was thy covering - For a description of these stones see the note on Exodus 28:17.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 11-19Verses 11-19 The dirge of the prince of Tyre, answering to the dirge of the state. The passage is ironical; its main purpose is to depict all the glory, real or assumed, of “the prince of Tyrus,” in order to show how deplorable should be his ruin. Ezekiel 28:12 To “seal the sum” is to make up the whole measure of perfection. Compare the Septuagint Ezekiel 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden - “Thou” wast etc. The prince of Tyrus is ironically described as the…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 13-14Ezekiel mocks Tyre’s claim to great age and importance. He describes the king as if he had been in Eden at the beginning of the world. He presents him as a powerful angelic guardian. These heavenly beings carried the Lord’s throne in Ezekiel 1 and guarding the garden in Genesis 3. In this picture, the king had access to the holy mountain of God. In the Bible, mountains are often linked with God’s presence. The fiery stones may refer to shining gemstones…Read the comment

In the person of the king of Tyre a new trial was made of humanity with the greatest earthly advantages. But as in the case of Adam, the good gifts of God were only turned into…Read the comment
