Context of Zechariah 10:11
9When I scatter them among the nations, They will remember Me in far countries, And with their children they will live and come back [to Me and the land I gave them]. 10I will bring them (all Israel) back home again from the land of Egypt And gather them from Assyria, And I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon [the land on the east and on the west of the Jordan] Until no room can be found for them. And they will pass through the sea of distress and anxiety [with the Lord leading His people, as at the Red Sea] And He will strike the waves in the sea, So that all the depths of the Nile will dry up; And the pride of Assyria will be brought down And the scepter [of the taskmasters] of Egypt will pass away. 12And I will strengthen Israel in the Lord, And they will walk [and glory] in His name,” declares the Lord.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 11And he shall pass through the sea - Here is an allusion to the passage of the Red Sea, on their coming out of Egypt, and to their crossing Jordan, when they went into the promised land; the waves or waters of both were dried up, thrown from side to side, till all the people passed safely through. When they shall return from the various countries in which they now sojourn, God will work, if necessary, similar miracles to those which he formerly worked for…Read the comment

And shall smite the waves in the sea” Isaiah 43:2, as in Isaiah, “The Lord shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea” Isaiah 11:15. The image is from the deliverance of Egypt: yet it is said, that it should not be any exact repetition of the miracles…Read the comment

Preaching the gospel is God's call for souls to come to Jesus Christ. Those whom Christ redeemed by his blood, God will gather by his grace. Difficulties shall be got over easily, and effectually, as those in the way of the deliverance out of Egypt. God himself will be their strength, and their song. When we resist…Read the comment

Vulgate translates, "The strait of the sea." Maurer, "He shall cleave and smite." English Version is best (Psa 114:3).
