Context of Psalms 59:1
Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; Set me securely on an inaccessibly high place away from those who rise up against me. 2Deliver me from those who practice wrongdoing, And save me from bloodthirsty men. 3Look! They lie in wait for my life; Fierce and powerful men [are uniting together to] launch an attack against me, Not for my wrongdoing nor for any sin of mine, O Lord.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 1Deliver me from mine enernies, O my God - A very proper prayer in the mouth of Nehemiah, when resisted in his attempts to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem by Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem, who opposed the work, and endeavored to take away the life of the person whom God had raised up to restore and rebuild Jerusalem. I conceive the Psalm to have been made on this occasion; and on this hypothesis alone I think it capable of consistent explanation.Read the comment
