Context of Psalms 21:8

6For You make him most blessed [and a blessing] forever; You make him joyful with the joy of Your presence. 7For the king [confidently] trusts in the Lord, And through the lovingkindness (faithfulness, goodness) of the Most High he will never be shaken. Your hand will reach out and defeat all your enemies; Your right hand will reach those who hate you. 9You will make them as [if in] a blazing oven in the time of your anger; The Lord will swallow them up in His wrath, And the fire will devour them. 10Their offspring You will destroy from the earth, And their descendants from the sons of men.

This verse commences a new division of the psalm (see the introduction) - in which the psalmist looks forward to the complete and final triumph of God over “all” his enemies. He looks to this in connection with what God had done for him. He infers that he who had enabled him to achieve such signal conquests over his own foes and the foes of God…Read the comment

Those who might have had Christ to rule and save them, but rejected him and fought against him, shall find the remembrance of it a worm that dies not.
