Context of Nehemiah 12:29
27Now at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought out the Levites from all their places in order to bring them to Jerusalem to celebrate the dedication with gladness, with hymns of thanksgiving, and with songs to the accompaniment of cymbals, harps, and lyres. 28So the sons of the singers gathered together from the district around Jerusalem, and from the villages of the Netophathites, from Beth-gilgal and from the fields of Geba and Azmaveth, for the singers had built villages for themselves around Jerusalem. 30The priests and the Levites purified themselves; they also purified the people, the gates, and the wall. 31Then I had the leaders of Judah come up on the wall, and I appointed two large thanksgiving choirs, the first one proceeding to the right on top of the wall toward the Refuse Gate.

Those that would be employed to sanctify others, must sanctify themselves, and set themselves apart for God. To those who are sanctified, all their creature-comforts and…Read the comment

It also contained the temple which was hallowed by the manifestation of His presence, and anew set apart to His service. It…Read the comment
