Context of Job 22:26
24And place your gold in the dust, And the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brooks [considering it of little value], 25And make the Almighty your gold And your precious silver, Then you will have delight in the Almighty, And you will lift up your face to God. 27You will pray to Him, and He will hear you, And you will pay your vows. 28You will also decide and decree a thing, and it will be established for you; And the light [of God’s favor] will shine upon your ways.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 26For then shalt thou have thy delight - Thou shalt know, from thy temporal prosperity, that God favors thee; and for his bounty thou shalt be grateful. How different is this doctrine from that of St. Paul and St. John! "Being justified by faith, we have peace with God, through our Lord Jesus." "Because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father!" "The Spirit himself beareth witness with our spirits that we…Read the comment

The counsel Eliphaz here gives is good, though, as to Job, it was built upon a false supposition that he was a stranger and enemy to God. Let us beware of slandering our brethren; and if it be our lot to suffer in this manner, let us remember how Job was treated; yea, how Jesus was reviled, that we…Read the comment
